Planning A Music Magazine

My target audience are teenagers possibly from 14 to 19 years old, for both male and female. I chose this because I’m making a hip hop, R&B and grime music magazine and teenagers are the most fans of this genre of music. So basing my music magazine on teenagers is more profitable.
For now my magazine is based on R&B, Hip Hop and Grime. I chose this because most teenagers like this type of music and also it’s the most current genre of music, so there are more chances of my magazine being chosen because it has three different genres put together.
I’ll be aiming for my magazine to come out monthly because my target audience are teenagers and if I charge £2.00 for my magazine and it would come out weekly, teenagers would have to spend £8.00 a month which is most likely not to happen because teenagers are mostly students and don’t have enough money to spend £8.00 a month only on a magazine. And because my magazine will be coming out monthly I will update new information weekly on my magazines webpage, and people can go on to find out more.
My magazine will be sold for £2.00 because it has a lot of stories, new music…etc and it also comes with a free CD seasonally. It’s also a colourful and glossy magazine, it’s so much better quality than cheap not glossy magazines with thin rough paper. Also it’ll be cheaper for teenagers because it comes out monthly, even if it was cheaper than £2.00 and it came out weekly by the end of a month it would count up so much more than £2.00 a month.
My magazine will be colourful and glossy because this attract more customers, bright colours with gloss catch consumers eyes which makes them look at it than maybe the title, puff…etc draw the consumer more in and make them buy it.

Review of The Questionnaire

Through my questionnaire I have come to my final design of my music magazine.
My target audience for my magazine will be female and male teenagers from 14 – 16 years old, this is also because mostly teenagers would buy my type of magazine and making it for both genders to make it more profitable.
My music magazine will contain three genres of music; R&B, Hip Hop and Grime, this might vary as different types of music get popular like Bashment, Raggae, Funky House and many more. I think that this type of music is the best for my music magazine because mostly teenagers like these genres, and it will be suitable for different people e.g. a person only likes R&B, even though they don’t like Hip Hop or Grime they can still buy my magazine.
I have also realised that a lot of people buy magazines, there is a wide range of different magazines that are bought. This is good because magazines are bought quite frequently, music is close to being a necessity so for me making a music magazine is a good profit.
Through the questionnaire I have noticed that most of the people buy their magazines fortnightly, but I have made a conclusion that it would be better for my magazine to come out monthly. This is because my target audience are teenagers, £2 is too much for a teenage student to buy weekly. If I sell my magazine fortnightly my magazine would cost £4 a month and if I sell it weekly my magazine would cost £8 a month, students won’t spend that much money only on a magazine so £2 a month is a reasonable price.
Most of the people have answered that the most thing that would attract their eye are things like The Sell Line, The Main Image, Bright Colours…etc. So to make my magazine be more productive I have to take these answers into concern to make a better profit.
In the questionnaire people said the best price for a music magazine is £1.50, however I’m making my magazine with quality like glossy cover, bright define colours, good quality pages…etc. The good quality will need more money this means the price will be higher, however £2 is not so far from £1.50.
My magazine will also contain stories about celebrities and the unsigned celebrities, this will attract more customers to buy my magazine and to get involved.
And my magazine will always have a freebie (seasonally) like stickers, posters, CD, interviews…etc, this will increase the quantity sold per season.
